No Trouble

No Trouble

There had been nothing in his life to this point he did not feel he could handle, the world just another puzzle to be solved, nothing going to trouble the path he had set out for himself in this life.

Across the table sat another faceless corporate paymaster, once king of his hill and now sweating about what he could do to save the company he had spent his life building.

This was supposed to be some sort of negotiation, but he know as well as the man before him knew, that this was nothing more than an excuse in saving face for one of them and if he could walk away with something, it would be his best outcome.

He eased back in his chair and looked down at the glass of water that sat at the edge of his side of the table. the contents have drunk in the glass, across from him the Corporate Suit picked up some papers he had in front of him and looked at them in the same way a card player would look at his cards and try to make more of it than he had.

Giving the man a few moments longer to ponder his situation, he reached to the glass and lifted it to his lips and took a small sip of the water, it had been cold when it was first served but now was tepid at best.

The liquid although not chilled need feel good against his throat as he swallowed and placed the glass back on the table with a clinking sound that seemed to reverberate around the walls of the conference room they were sitting in.

No, this was no trouble and if he just pushed a little, some form of gentle persuasion he could have this wrapped up before lunch and then other than some paperwork, the day would be his to do as he was so pleased.

Enough of the games, he thought to himself as he shifted forward in the seat he was in, in his mind he imagined he looked like the lion in the savanah as it stalked towards its prey and knew only one outcome.

The man opposite him gulped suddenly at his opposites movement and he shuffled the papers in his hands nervously, the prey expecting the end that would be coming far sooner than he had wanted.

A crashing sound broke the silence in the room and as if in unison the people in the room turned towards the sound as the conference room door flew inwards and in marched what he could only describe as a force of nature.

Barely standing near to Five feet from where he was sitting, but her scowl and energy made her seem ten feet tall in his eyes, those eyes the beauty that escaped through the fury that gripped her face.

A smile formed on his face as he looked to where she stood in the doorway and his thoughts turned from this being a day of no trouble to something so much more and he could not help but love the idea.
