Stronghold

The fortress that protects your heart stands in my way
Walls rising high into the sky and offering no path beyond them
Dark and foreboding as they try to force me to leave

Beyond those walls is the heart I wish to win
Beyond those walls is the woman that I cannot bare to leave
Beyond those walls is a heart protected and not so easily given in return

No assault through force could allow me to breach those defences
Any such action would be repulsed by the barriers you have formed
Like a thief in the night and seeking your love, I must move slow

Each step taken forward, I must be prepared to take a fall
Each fall I must get up from and carry on and seek a way to you
Each success takes me closer to finding a way into your stronghold
