Fresh Eyes

We see the world through our own eyes
Whether through a sense of happiness or optimism or
Whether through a sense of misery and despair

The darkness would claw at my eyes and cause me to be weak
Cause the world seems impossible and takes away my will to fight
Falling under the weight of despair and not being able to see

My eyes refused to see if there is anything better for me
Spiralling further and further every day as I turn away
Eyes only see the things that drive down

Then you came to me, your views on the world something new
The world through the eyes of someone who has seen the worst and come back
A journey of discovery that I have been invited to join and gladly do

The world was once seen through my eyes and only saw the worst
You came along and showed me that the world filtered through something better
Your eyes showing me a better place exists for me
