Chasing light

Chasing something impossible to touch
Chasing something that you need to have
Chasing what you need but can never have

You close your eyes and try to escape the light
Perhaps if you cannot see it, you could reach out and touch it
Hold on to it, bring it tight against yourself

But no it is elusive and would just slip from your hands
Not yours to hold and sometimes feels like it never will be
From the highest point and now crashing back down
