Sunset rain

Sunset Rain

I lift my head and the power of the last rays of the day touch my face
The power of the sun beginning to wane as the night comes
Eyes squinted against the near blinding light.

Around it, I see the forming dark clouds that will soon dominate the sky
The light wanes as each moment passes, soon the clouds will be all we see
The moonlight obscured and without the light, we create ourselves, nothing.

The first sounds of rain as the heavens upon the concrete below
A light touch at first, but the strength of the downpour grows
Soon the rain is bouncing up from the ground and puddles of water begin to form

The day now nearly gone, the night soon to be
The last flickers of light to be enjoyed before becoming unseen
Now replaced as the rain continues to pour

The daylight was soon a memory and the sunset rain was now upon us
