Inside these walls

Walls we build around ourselves to keep ourselves safe
But do we do so to protect ourselves or do we so to keep those away
Over time, we suffer the hurt that life throws at us

Whether through cruel intention or just the act of fate
The walls surround us and we look up at them built so high
Tricking ourselves into believing that they can never be climbed

But just like a mountain, there is always a girl who will try
She knows the pain that you have suffered because she has suffered it too
Time has given over and she has found the strength to begin to heal

Found the courage to step beyond her defences and find you
Now with each passing day, you become stronger still
Ready to let go and release all you held inside and have given your life over too

The future waits and you are ready to find that happiness that you felt was taken
The past and present do not need to be your future, you can escape from
inside these walls
