Just some information some may find boring ...But! ... Some won't!

In the story that I'm writing about a team of off-world misfits that are military test pilots, I have developed a new language for one of my main characters. Below is a list of characters within the story and the language that I am putting together as I write. I am enjoying the shenanigans as I write this adventurous tale and hope once it's finished the readers will love it as well.
Who’s who

Character Introduction is in order of appearance:

Jade Warrior is the base commander’s civilian daughter and the mission command flight programer.
Misty is Jade Warrior's pet and is from her homeworld. Jade has had Misty since birth.
Captain Jack Warrior is the base commander, flight/mission commander, & Jade’s father.
Cloud Striker is the test pilot of the experimental ships and Jade’s boyfriend.
Tommy O’Shannon is a hot-tempered, red-headed Irishman, chief engineer, mechanic, and core weapons specialist.
Cary Tinman is a Red-Martian, explosives coordinator, bombardier, and ship astronomer.
Beanpole Jackson, an Englishman, is a co-test pilot and ship navigator.

I never understood the purpose in doing this. For me it detracts from the actual story. Even Tolkien himself used such wording sparingly.

Thank you for your input, I agree mostly, and it's understandable in a lot of stories. When fiction is set in another world, or country or characters speak other languages, writers have the opportunity to use foreign words and phrases to enhance their writing, in an effort to establish a real sense of place, to create an atmosphere that is distinctly not American. And, when using strange words unknown to the reader, I think there should be a way to also convey the meanings of those words within the dialogue so as not to create lag. Not an easy task, but I'm trying. Guess I'll see how it turns out.

@Coletracer Ursula La Guin was known for using multiple foreign language cliches. It made for some of the hardest reading I ever attempted. Actually found harder than a calculus textbook. I was forced to give up on the one and only book I read by her.

I read for entertainment. Not to learn cliches in multiple foreign languages.

Note I have read War and peace by Tolstoy and enjoyed it. All over 1,200 pages of it.
