Span of Attention

8 seconds, that's how long we tend to hold attention nowadays. This means by the time I get to the 3rd sentence, I will have already bored your brain. If you wish to learn something more and don't want your memory to evolve into that of a fish, I suggest that you open your ears and pay attention to this.

If I asked you what was the color of your best friend's eyes, could you? Are you able to remember your last meal and what you did to prepare the food? Who among you could hold a candle to what I say and tell me that you are not being played? You are still reading this, so your interests remain and so you choose to stay.

Play with the idea that your brain only works based on stimulation and control. For however long I can provide you with something exciting, that's how long your attention will hold. The bridge between the two is something that lies in every one of you: Curiosity. Obviously, this is on you as taught about that famous fable about a cat when you were 3.

Have you ever heard the whole story about how "Curiosity killed the cat?" The part they conveniently leave out is "Satisfaction brought it back". How convenient things have become has made us both complacent and impatient. Now it is difficult to follow a conversation and try to recall where it went.

So what can you learn? Yearn to find out why when you wonder. Don't sit and think about, don't peace and ponder. Rather take advantage of that spark that piques your interest from the beginning. You might just find the lost chapter of the story you were looking for, rather than being dissatisfied with the ending.

Actually, the idea that goldfish have a memory that short is a myth.

@Fluffybull True! This was just a rough draft, I'm using this for a writing contest for school. Any and all feedback is welcomed, I want to win! The winner gets a $10 Starbucks gift card, which I want. 😭💙

Pretty good hook, young man.
With all the adults here, you really shouldn't be here kid. I'm sure there are more age appropriate websites out there.

@RocktheHouse Thank you for the concern, however, I find to be quite happy here. I had a lot of good discussions and fun times. I should be on more age-appropriate websites but the ones I've been to seems to be pretty boring and most users on there seem to be inactive. I mostly do just writing poetry and short stories on my profile though. Thank you, nonetheless for your love and looking out for me. 😇💙
