[/center] [center]Claire was so excited about her first night babysitting for the Johnsons down the street.
Her younger sister Rose watched her get ready for the new job. She was so proud of her big sister.
Their move drove her to the Johnsons, she was a few minutes early too! Claire wanted to make a big first impression on them.
The Johnsons were happy to see Claire. "Our phone number is on the fridge if you need anything. Help yourself to whatever food or drinks you'd like." Mrs. Johnson told her.
"The children are upstairs asleep. Make sure to check on them every now and then. There's a monitor so you're able to watch them anywhere in the house. You can use the basement if you'd like to. There's a TV and video games to play, okay?" Mr. Johnson responds.
"We're happy we found you, Claire!" Mrs. Johnson says. The Johnsons say their goodbyes and leave.
Claire went directly upstairs to check on the children. They were safe and sound asleep.
She went into the kitchen to get the phone number and a soda before heading down to the basement.
The basement had a large flatscreen TV, a pinball machine, and some video games but Claire just wanted to go online.
She opened her laptop, went online, and began watching some videos while glancing at the monitor lights every now and then.
After a while, she decided to play some pinball. She put the monitor beside the pinball machine and started to play.
Claire got a little creeped out by the clown statue next to the machine, so she stopped playing. She took a blanket from the sofa and covered the clown.
The monitor lights suddenly turned red and she could see the children stirring in their sleep. She went back upstairs to go check on them.
Thank goodness, the children were fine. But just then, Claire heard sounds coming from the basement monitor!
Claire carefully went back downstairs, looking all around the basement. She didn't see anything usual...
She went back to the sofa when all of sudden, she noticed the little piece of paper with the phone number written on it...IT'S GONE!
