The average American is much, much closer to becoming homeless than to becoming a billionaire, but they are more in favor of tax cuts for the rich on the off chance they make it that far too, than for support programs for situations they could end up in overnight.

I hadn’t heard that before but it was certainly prescient.
@Harmonium1923 Indeed. It goes towards explaining why some people are living in trailer parks, receiving public assistance—and voting Republican.

@bijouxbroussard Right? Having access to healthcare primarily through the ACA and Medicaid expansion but voting for politicians whose platform is to repeal it.

Not heard that before, but it explains why some people are so passive about being ripped off daily. They hope that one day it will be them doing the ripping off.
