My belief: Each person: YOU ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT PERSON IN YOUR LIFE. All others come later.

@soar2newhighs I gave more examples. And probably could give more.

@DeWayfarer they dont mean that acts of selflessness don't exist. they meant that as people we should value our own being too. the greeks believed there were different kinds of love, the purest being a mother's love for her child. i agree with that but it doesn't mean that you should devalue of your existence. the most beautiful thing about dying for someone or something is that you do care about your own life, you should be putting it above all else but you love that something or someone far more and that is what makes self sacrifice so admirable.
also sorry if I'm being weird or annoying because I'm sleep deprived and calculus is kind of fucking me up

@cattleyst I really don't believe you understand the Greek forms of love.
There WAS no purest form despite Christians usurping the word AGAPE. Which the Christians believed was the highest form of love as well! It's because of Christianity, later in history, that only the word love exists today!
You must remember that the Greeks were attempting a democracy, that Socrates was attempting to over throw, with his selfish ideas. Which eventually got him killed!
Democracy STANDS for equality! Lack of selfishness! The group is greater than the individual. Therefore selfishness is wrong.
Then Socrates students Plato and Aristotle continued on with his arrogant work after being kill.
The Greeks themselves despised being selfish! And why they actually did kill Socrates. His ideas were killing their society. Which eventually the Romans took as their own ARISTOCRATIC Republic from Aristotle and PLATO'S Republic.
None of those three were liked by the Greeks, they DESPISED those three people. The Romans however worshipped them!
And they actually killed Greek society in the end!
Democracy was before it's time. Equality couldn't be done, because there simply was no way to do it then. Selfish individualism and greed got in the way.
And we are still trying to figure a way out of the selfish individualism and greed today 2,500 years later.
Been where you are in calculus. You'll have nightmares when you ever do get to sleep. I won't give you the ideas of what those nightmares were about.

As true as that quote is, I would expect the vast majority of people to misinterpret what being yourself means therefore making them nobodies anyways.
