Well it was actually around the moon not on it. It was a fly by mission that has cost now 100 billion dollars to get this far. The most ridiculous over budget poorly managed program in NASA history because of the design approach and so many point of no return budget issues. Once started and these things don't end no matter the cost until someone says mission accomplished. They might get a moon landing with ARTEMIS but I believe the program is doomed and unsustainable.

@Gibbon It seems a wasted effort to me too. If it had been about setting up a far side observatory I'd be in favor.

@CleverGirl my dad worked for NASA most of his working life and I know he would be appalled at the expense and management of this program. He worked both the Apollo and Shuttle programs. This thing is so far past a realistic budget it's no longer laughable. The next mission isn't going to land either it's not even going to leave Earth orbit. More testing. Test test test because of all the problems the program has.

@Gibbon My studies conclude that space colonization is counter productive. Detecting incoming threats is the only valid effort.

@CleverGirl I agree it's not realistic with our current technology and capabilities to be talking about colonies on Mars or even the moon.

@Gibbon It goes even further than that (no pun intended). It can be successfully argued that we're natural and eternal planet hoppers. I know eight testable evidences, but definitely won't subject myself to SW ridicule.

@CleverGirl That's interesting. DM me if you care to share. I don't blame you for not putting it out there.

@Gibbon @CleverGirl it’s cute how y'all overtook and bonded on the OP’s thread by making it conspiracy related.
CleverGirl · 26-30, FNew
@BillyMack No conspiracy theory proposed. Only expressed practicality.
