Raccoons in one county in central Oklahoma are being found with rabies.

@WoWgirll Just saying it case someone thinks it’s good to feed and touch them. Gotta be so careful. They can also carry a virus that if young children come in contact with their saliva it can damage their brains and possibly kill them. Leaving food out for them is not good.

@cherokeepatti I do both. It is good

@WoWgirll A toddler boy got sick and was hospitalized for many months and survived but with serious brain damage. He must have nibbled on the food that his mother put out for the raccoons. He tested positive for that virus.

@WoWgirll yeah that works good after a child has sampled the food

@cherokeepatti I guarantee that happened in a suburb.

@WoWgirll My niece live in a rural mobile home park and was feeding a cat outside on her porch. She lived right next to a river where all kinds of wildlife lived. So it can happen in rural areas too.
