If there was really a choice, no. The privacy is more important.
Yet there are other factors than privacy verses convenience.
Such as transportation costs, income or the ability to afford where you live.
Often I have had to factor in all those things in along with privacy and convenience.
I lived like a hermit once in the mountains for 12 years. So I do value privacy highly, despite limited income and distance from anything.

That's kind of how every government functions, just at varying scales. Even "free" sites aren't private, your info gets sold.
