Old & left behind?

What age are you and when did you start realizing the the super-tecchies and their sycophantic disciples were going to pull the rug out from under you without caring one whit for utterly destroying your 'comfort zone', your very lifestyle.?
ArtieKat · M
I was 71 years old 9 days ago and I'm not aware of anyone destroying my comfort zone, my very lifestyle.

@ffony
why, then, did you respond at all ?

I could ask you the same question. I suspect you will be completely fossilised by the time I reach 87, however.
ffony · M
@ArtieKat I could ask you the same question that you asked me after I asked you etc, etc.; Or you could just have answered. :)

Anyhoo, since you are "unaware of anyone destroying my comfort zone, my very lifestyle," my question doesn't apply to you at all. @ArtieKat

I haven't reached that age and I turn 77 within a few months. I'm responsible for my own rug and they theirs, which I do beleive is in danger of flying away without them.

I'm 46 and I'm pretty up on technology so I'm not really worried about it. And truthfully this generation is becoming dumber by the moment and after a while they're technological inventions will take over and probably eliminate them for us I'm going to sit back and enjoy the show while skynet rubs them out LOL here comes judgment Day

Just remember that you dont have to learn to smelt steel to use an axe.. Or understand the workings of the infernal combustion engine to drive a car.. These things are tools of modern society to be slaves to us. Not make slaves of us.. I use them for anything I want to do.. And have grandkids for anything I cant cope with. (Like hooking googlemaps from my phone to my car screen.)😷

Maybe about 10 years or so ago. One of the kids I was babysitting asked me to turn the TV on for them. I was searching around for the button, and there didn’t seem to be one anywhere on it. I was so confused.
Then one of the 4-year-olds said they could do it. 🥹 I don’t understand Smart devices very well.I still don’t understand how he turned the TV on.

Around 38 when I no longer knew how to turn on the television and had to get my small kids to do it for me.

And then, as they became preteen, they were speaking with words that I’ve never even heard of and completely light years ahead of me

I feel like I’m living in a different world where children outsmart me on a daily basis

When I realized the Internet, like everything in America, is all about greed, not people.
ffony · M
@hunkalove Sadly the dominion of greed over people is not limited to America. It always existed all over; but America led the field, conquered it and made the world its field. There's no escape.

F.... you Amazon, Google, Jobs, Gates and the whole ruthless rotten mob.

The second my second hand phone said it would no longer support updates.

It was only 3 years old

@helenS Haha, I had a handyman come to build us a deck. He used a smartphone nonstop, finding out how to do it as he went along! I saw he was screwing it up, sent him away, abandoned his 'work' and built it myself from scratch.

No competent people here are now willing to take on small jobs :(.
