NEVER buy a used car from Florida

Never. Ever.

Never.
Never.
Never.
Never.
Never.

Not if the owners say they've never been flooded. Even if they say they've never been in a storm. Even say they'd never dream of driving through high water.

I watched dozens and dozens of vehicles, Jeeps and Civics alike, think a flooded neighborhood meant a slight slow-down and barricades were simply an obstacle in a game. I got to see helpful volunteers, friends and family in pajamas, a lot of tow trucks, 911, even - hand to God - a Fish & Wildlife airboat taking people to safety. After a while, the tow trucks simply lined up down the center of the unflooded area down the road. And that was just my little area.

Never buy a used car from Florida.

This kind of advisory is the reason why you basically can't resell second-hand cars if you're from my area - no other Italians will fall for our salty blocks of rust with wheels 馃槳

@Elessar My sister used to have an old Cinquecento and it was perfect for our needs: getting from A to B.

@helenS Hopefully not bought from a Venetian! jk

I have one too 馃槍

@Elessar The one which my sister had was much more angular, edgier.

@helenS This?

@Elessar That one looks to me like a vintage 500. From the 1960s perhaps?

@helenS I think so.

But wait, you said edgier, so maybe this?

@helenS That generation ran all the way from 1957 to 1975 馃檪. Rear engine, two cylinders, air cooling.
