Looks like a nice place to visit. I wish we had those open-air markets here, about the only ones are the Saturday farmers markets and they overprice the produce so much I don’t buy it.

One good thing is it's 129 miles from London.

@cherokeepatti Yes, there is more to the UK than London, far more.
London isn't what it was, it has become gentrified.

@Nimbus My city is doing that too even though it’s very small in comparison. I’m old enough to remember when it has some character and it wasn’t only about how much money you had.

@cherokeepatti Exactly.

Even the oligarchs are leaving London now but that's a different story, lol

I haven't been to Bridport in years. really must make the effort

My stopping point when driving down to Tavistock. An amazing town.

Once a major ropes and nets manufacturing town, and in the past served by rail and by a small commercial harbour a couple of miles away, too. The railway has gone but the harbour survives for fishing and pleasure boats.

(I live not far from it.)

It's almost never on my way from A to B. I think I should add it to my list of places to revisit.

Can you recommend any good cafés there? Or anywhere in fact?
devonman · 61-69, M
@ninalanyon it has a thriving town centre , lots of cafes and pubs . The Vintage market on Wednesday is worth a visit . Antiques market tucked
away behind Waitrose . Good deli too.
