Ever realize how much adjustment is required when you replace a battery?

Went to do some welding the other day and discovered my auto darkening welding mask was not working. Obvious dead battery. Replace the battery then I had to readjust all the settings to get the right darkness and time of darkening and the level of brightness required to get it to darken. Lots of potential welding flash. I haven't replaced its battery for years and it took some time to figure out how again.

Mine is solar powered. No batteries to worry about.
The only problem I have is when I weld overhead and my arm blocks the flash from the solar panel. This makes it go so dark, you can hardly see the the arc.

If you really know how to weld you don't actually need an auto-helmet.

@MethDozer So you have never used one? They sure beat the old flip style we used to use on the farm 45 years ago. I still have that old helmet and the old farm welder too. Both still work but technology has progressed.
