Do short people also start their stories like “when I was little” or they just say “as I am today.”?

In my case, 5'6" and 145 lbs...I've been that height and weight since I was 19,
I'd start my stories like this...

"When I was young, I used to ride on the backs of Whales and Dolphins." 😁😎✨️
