What Things Would You Like To See Make A Comeback?

Watermelons with seeds, they are hard to find these days. Much more flavor than seedless.

Fruit stands and selling produce out of the back of trucks…watermelons, cantaloupe, sweet corn and other such produce.

Large fabric stores with a large variety of reasonably priced fabrics.

Small food stands own by locals who sell a few popular items done right. Fried chicken, burgers, snow cones etc. I think the cities have made it near impossible to operate these now.

@PoetryNEmotion On the farm we made our own entertainment. Farm families would take turn hosting ice cream socials and invite all their farm friends. Everyone would bring an ice cream maker and milk & ingredients for their ice cream. The ladies would go into the kitchen and plate up cookies and other treats they had baked and brought to share…and make coffee and Kool-aid while the men were outside cranking up the ice cream makers and socializing. We had several flavors of ice cream and the children would be playing outside till it was ready. Good times. We also had cook-outs, fish fries, picnic gatherings down by a river or in a park, Strawberry season with a bounty of berries meant we’d be having strawberries on vanilla cake and homemade whipped cream. Usually reserved for when neighbors came over for a visit. Every season had it food treats back then.

Hand-written letters, I have a woven sewing box full of them from my grandmother, aunts and mother that I have cherished all my adult life. Sometimes with a little handkerchief tucked in a birthday card sent by my grandmother.

Photo booths. Those were fun.

Dates at Pizza Hut. Pizza was a treat back then for us. Pizza Hut had checkered curtains on the windows, a candle on the table and subdued lighting. The aroma of the pizza while we were waiting and nice conversation made it worth the wait.

How about juke boxes? The little table top ones were fun too. Never heard anyone complain about the musical choices.

Taking walks down a winding farm road and along creeks and through meadows to see what we could find. Would carry a coffee can and usually have it filled up before heading back home….wildflowers, berries, walnuts etc.

@PoetryNEmotion That's a wonderful memorable list. You had me standing up cheering then I fell to my knees when you mentioned blue cheese.

I fell to my knees
when you mentioned blue cheese.
YOU are a poet; and emotional with it!
Gibbon · 70-79, M
@ffony I was at one time but it was because of one and only one muse. The words flowed without thought. Alas those days are gone but it's a good thing for good of all.

@Gibbon Sometimes my words flow without thought but it's not a good thing - and usually far too loud. :( ;)

Phone booths are/were great! You could call each other and speak freely - no record of the call at either end.

You could also charge the long distance call to the phone next to you😎

@SW-User LOL that's very sneaky.
@cherokeepatti Some of those were before my time. They all involve commitment and caring and good feelings. We need more of that in the world. A whole lot more.
@Gibbon Ah, you are a fine man then! :)
@SW-User Or give a code for a collect call for someone to pick you up!
@Gibbon I belong to a pretty good European poetry site. If you want to join, we welcome new poets all the time. You needn't even write. You may just read what we create. It is a shame to let your words die.

@PoetryNEmotion Thank you for the invite but that is definitely part of my lifeline I prefer to leave in the past. Like I said I had only one muse that brought out my words and looking back I was in a good and evil heart broken spiral. My mind cannot think up a poem even trying. What joy there was is best left on that deserted island.

On Cape Cod our town had a potluck dinner every Friday night. You sat in these giant roundtables for 10.

I used to love going off season where it was just the natives. Then you got the Illuminatie, fluoride and 5G phobes and their theories behind the control.

Naturally I would totally encourage it!
@SW-User Sounds great, Slade!
@Gibbon That is your right. I only know that I would love to read some of your poetry for its beauty.

@PoetryNEmotion I used to bring up the Rothschilds and let them go! 😈

@PoetryNEmotion It's all gone. Not a record of a single one that I know of
@Gibbon Then it has died a tragic death.
