Straight To The End

Inside a satirical design
I play out situations in my mind
And the past plays out as if in rewind
Ask me twice. Both times I'm fine

Inside the present I reside
Watching world's roll like the tides
And the present feels like it will die
Ask again and still I'll cry

That I am fine and always will be
I need not nothing to set my soul free
All I can ever be is just me
Ask again because you've never seen me.

Inside this world of my own making
With a past that's been overtaken
Again I'm fine. Don't be mistaken
Asking thrice as if you're just faking

But I can't give what I don't have
The past is looking for an autograph
But I walk forward and again I laugh
As I chart my course with my own graph

So look away and keep the scowl
I walked the depths through hell's bowls
I traversed the forests as wild dogs howl
I've cloaked my face within love's cowl

But life has brought me naught but pain
The past has left a million stains
But I stand tall and still refrain
From ending things before they came

Hope is like the fickle friend
Offering up the make-pretend
But I will never be fooled again
I'm walking forward straight to the end.
