Out of the box trick for arthritis flare up

Some of you might remember. I got in a car accident where I was running and I quite literally got ran over by a car.

This happened when I was eighteen years old. It was a compound fracture I broke my tibia and my fibula and the bones were actually protruding from my leg. I had to have intramedullar rod insertion surgery. Which basically means they took a titanium rod and hammered it into my bone marrow to stabilize the bones back together so that i could keep my leg

I got to keep my life and leg but unfortunately i have a type of arthritis called post traumatic arthritis which is a result of breaking a bone or tearing a ligament or tendon.

For anyone who may not know the feeling of arthritis can be compared to a severe debilitating toothache. I feel this "toothache" sensation in the rod in my leg whenever there is a significant change in the weather like dramatic drops in temperature or changes in the atmospheric pressure due to large storms.

My arthritis is so debilitating sometimes it actually can prevent me from walking. Today was one of those days. I have a walker for these days and i had to use it today unfortunately

I get relief from nsaids (non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs) such as ibuprofen and tylenol, heat especially such as hot baths, i use a tenz machine (a device that delivers a shock to the area and relives pain through natural endorphins). I have a knee brace and compression stockings that relieve some of the pressure which helps as well. However sometimes these things do not give me relief and i suffer immaculately.

I discovered another smart trick today. I put a towel over my affected area and blow dried my leg with the towel so i didnt get burned. I felt immediate relief

;D thought i would share that with anyone who maybe suffering

contrast therapy works well for arthritis in hands (especially when you get that itchy feeling during flares)

submerse your hands in the hottest water you can bear without burning yourself, wait a few minutes until you acclimate to it, then immediately dip them in ice cold water...

@wildbill83 Do you have arthritis in your hands? I heard that if you have it in your hands to dip it in wax and it supposedly helps. I wish i had wax for my leg lolll

I don't have it now in my hands but I imagine I will get it when I'm older. Because I type a lot and I crochet
