I Wish Things Were Simpler

When I was a kid, things were oh so simple; less technology and it didn't take so everlastingly long to get what you wanted or results.

Peapod is usually wonderful service. This morning on my inbox, I got a message about how much I had in coupons on my most recent order. While that was a nice message, it didn't tell me how much to delete on my checkbook for my total. I got on the phone to inquire, and for 15 to 18 minutes, I was on hold, listening to "canned" music because "all representatives are assisting other customers". I just wanted a specific amount, and when I finally reached a live person, I got my answer in less than five minutes! (Note to everyone - for grocery delivery, Peapod is wonderful and the food is good - I rarely have a problem like this.)

My point is this - no one likes to hang on the phone for an answer to something you can't question on the original EMail - something that takes 5 minutes or less to answer. Technology goes through a requested reply with a bunch of facts that we don't want or need. When I was little, it was one, two, three...there's your answer. Fast, simple, easy. This is not only for grocery delivery..it applies in other areas. I'm sure you all have something you grew up with that snail-crawls now, and was much quicker in the not-too-distant past.
Technology, like people, is not perfect and requires effort to become truly useful and helpful. It's very easy to be satisfied with a deluge of information, even though the detail we want/need isn't included in the flood.

Your point is well stated and exceptionally valid.

@SWisGoingWoke Thank you, very much. I am glad someone else sees my point.
@MaryJanine It's sad how with more connectivity at our fingertips than ever, people feel less connected to others than ever.

I have been seduced by technology and have to remember how we did things way back. Like writing letters and posting them.
