I Want To Let Go Of Stress
Know that this moment is terrible now, but acknowledge it won't always be this way.
Compile a list of sayings or images that bring you peace, even better save them on your phone or distribute them around your house.
Practice a form of meditation, Yoga, read a book, sit in your backyard, pick up a craft, do something that you enjoy and brings a smile to your face.
Reframe the situation, try to see it in a positive light, if that isn't possible, try to see it as not being the end of the world.
Seek support from your friends, family, and your group on SG.
“Stress is caused by being ‘here’ but wanting to be ‘there.’"– Eckhart Tolle
Stress is a mental response to a physical situation, meaning something occurs, but it is a choice whether or not we become stressed by it. For example, we are preparing for a trip, the plane is delayed, the weather is horrible, you are hungry and tired and honestly, throwing a fit on the floor seems like a wonderful idea. On the other hand, everything that is occurring is out of your hands. So you can find a lovely snack or a make a new conversation buddy and then suddenly, things don't seem so bleak.
“In times of stress, the best thing we can do for each other is to listen with our ears and our hearts and to be assured that our questions are just as important as our answers.” – Fred Rogers
The situation doesn't change, but our mindset can. We can be our biggest resource or worse enabler. The next time stress creeps up and taps you on the shoulder, don't immediately let it wash over you. Take a breath, think about what you are feeling and why, then decide if sliding down the rabbit hole of stress is worth the journey. Perhaps a step to the side to see how you might reframe is worth a few moments of your time.
