Nihilism Is A Perspective That I Found Damaging

When you look at things from the perspective of nothing matters, there is no point to anything, that we are insignificant and one day won't even be a memory.. it decays your values, your motivation to do anything, your relationships with others and yourself...

The truth is purpose, significance and meaning are immaterial existing within our perception. Their existence is dependent on us and to discard them is to discard your soul essentially.

I find that with nihilism comes defeatism, low self esteem, the innability to appreciate life and the journey. You make your own purpose, your own meaning and what you value, those things are essential to your mental wellbeing.
Even with nihilism, I wonder, if nothing matters, than why not enjoy?

I feel no matter how you look at life, no matter what you’ve been through, the truth is only your own, what you make it.

But also, I think some are built for chaos, some peace, to keep a balance. It’s our modern world trying to force universal truths down our necks everywhere we turn that is so confusing and we lose our own path.

Acceptance would be a good practice for humans to strongly adopt rn 🤍🖤

@BrokenAbyss It's hard to enjoy something if it doesn't matter to you, the fact that something matters to a person that it gives the thing value in the first place which makes it enjoyable.

That's true, I agree.

I think either we build ourselves or the World does, a lot of times both. Many people are very suggestible though and don't know how to take ownership of their minds.

Thanks for the well thought out reply!

Agree! It's almost a cop out attitude. It devalues and invalidates feelings, love and so on.

I don’t at all disagree with what you’re saying here. But it does make me think that then there are times when the weight of the world sits on your shoulders and your only relief is found by looking up at the stars and embracing your insignificance. It can be a tool. Perspective, to me, needs to be flexible as no one mindset can encompass all the unpredictable mess of life successfully.
