I Have Nostalgia For The Past

It’s too bad real life isn’t more like a late-60s/early-70s sitcom - like the Brady Bunch. The early 70s were a great time. I was a little girl. Life was simpler. There were more reasons for optimism. All week I’ve been thinking about my early childhood, and thinking maybe that really was the best part of my life.

I remember in your face racism, tbh. But back then people knew it was wrong and weren’t making excuses for it. They were trying to do better. I definitely didn’t imagine I’d still be seeing it, this time from people unaware of its historical context.

@bijouxbroussard That happened here too. It took another 20 years or so before racism began to be addressed properly. I feel like big strides have been made but it's still an issue, unfortunately.

@bijouxbroussard I know you’re right about the racism. There were things about that time that were bad. I’m talking more about very specific and personal memories of my own childhood - not so much society in general.
