Basalt Towers

Petrified, gnashing teeth
Fossilized in latent grief
You don't believe in empathy,
Just regrets for what you've done to Thee.

You'll call their bluff, show your hand,
Bare your throat to their master plan.
Always a lion until the end,
Even if you must play the lamb.

And from the cage you did burst,
With a softly whispered curse,
Jumping like flame in the dim,
Sooting yourself within.
