I Am Missing Someone
Good morning, love!
I thought of you today and wondered how you are. Did you sleep
without waking? Were your dreams about me in your arms?
It has been a few months since you left seeking your fortune in a remote
region of the world. You said you would keep in contact, but alas, not a
correspondence was shared between us. I often wonder if you were
swept away into the sea, for the bond we shared between us has weakened.
Has another woman captured your interest? Do you not remember your words to me that we were committed to each other. You asked for
faithfulness and trust....I gave you my heart, but in return the sounds of
silence surround me.
Where are you now, love? Perhaps you are rounding Cape Horn, as
a merchant of spices. Are you in Ceylon hunting big game? An adventurer
you were, always seeking the unknown.
Do not forget me.....for as the seasons change, I continue to wait
for you to return home. I long to look into your sea foam colored eyes,
feel your strong arms protecting me and know that I am truly home.
It is dusk now, on the 90th day of your absence, the sky has turned
stormy. Could this be an omen of things going awry.....the winds have
picked up, a raven crows in the distance, claps of thunder reverberate
a mighty roar, and then comes the rain....the heavens open its floodgates.
I feel helpless against this torrent....and then my eyes fill with tears, I
feel despair at not knowing your fate. I ask for a sign that you have not
succumbed to a destiny that was unplanned. You were mine and I am yours...not knowing is true agony.
It is now early evening, and then a knock is heard at the front door.....
