I finished the audiobook of The Great Gatsby ... DP there seems to get the ironical side of life, bittersweet, and no one cares to understand contexts and references, they'll come to conclusions without weighing the matter.
@hunkalove You're right about Poe's work. But where would the detective genre be without Conan Doyle's short stories? I regard Poe up there with the finest American authors, just like Mencken was its finest journalist ever.
