This wasn't courageous exactly. According to the gentleman with me at the time, it was "$&)(@;:$$; stupid."
I was heading from Walmart to the bus station a few years ago and there was a young mother with 2 children in tow and a baby in her arms when a drugstore cowboy came roaring in driving a red sports car and started screaming profanities and threats at her, trying to tear the crying terrified kids away from her.
I just waded in and kept them apart until the cops showed up and took over.
The drugstore cowboy wasn't very nice to me.

As small and skinny as I am, broke up a very (((heated))) argument between co-workers before it escalated.
When all the other employees heard the loud yelling and swearing they wouldn't do anything, so I intervened and pushed them apart keeping them away from each others throats.
Both became my friends at work with respect.
