I Have a Confession

When I was in my early teens I had a weird obsession with the movie "Satisfaction". A mix of the songs and a small crush on Liam Neeson.

In the movie he had a dog named Hamlet, but one of the characters was ditzy and didn't understand the name because of his accent so she called it "Omelette".

In a turn of events my family adopted a dog -oddly enough, not a male- and I named her "Omlet". It was a conversation starter for sure.

So, to this day I cannot spell omelette correctly unless I look it up.

When I was growing up, I always saw it spelled as “omelet”.
In recent years I’ve seen more people using “omelette” which is a French spelling, but according to some sources “omelet” is still the preferred spelling in American English.
“Omlet” is actually an old British spelling, but the British have adopted the French “omelette” as their preferred spelling.

However you spell it, it’s still a great play! 😁
