Dr. House Episode
Yes, I know it's a TV show, and therefore fiction, but this is the kind of pure, unadulterated misinformation (I was going to say "crap", but that might be rude for some people) those of us who aren't murderously deranged have to deal with. Some people actually use this stupid analogy, I've seen it first hand.
Okay, "Doctor" House, this is how it is.
Parasites all have three things in common that babies do not -
1. They're a different form of life altogether (i.e. another species) to their host, the animal keeping them in a steady supply of nourishment and protection.
2. When, or if, the host dies, the parasite just moves on to the next potential target if it can.
3. They never leave their host as part of their development and go on to grow up and become productive members of society, but babies (or "foetuses") do.
