If lawmakers can't do that then they're not serious when they claim the unborn baby's life has value
What does this even mean?
... Also, this "value" (if it even excists) doesn't excist in a vacuum. This value notion seems to pretends that the mother's (and the father's) life can't have "more value". Espescially, because they already excist in a concious form and are living their lifes, while the fetus (in the overwhelming amount of cases that are being discussed) hasn't even developed to a point where it's concious yet. We value certain things over other things all the time. The subjective notion of value (because, there is no objective notion in cases like this) also comes into being by comparing things with other things and then giving them a ranking. Sometimes something with more value gets cut for something that has less value. Not everything that has value, needs to be safed and protected.
