I Had An Abortion

I had an abortion some three and a half weeks ago. I need some medical advice, if a reader happens to have undergone similar experience. Abortion is not illegal in my country but it's still a taboo so I can't visit doctors at ease all the time.

The procedure was vacuum aspiration, where they suck the uterine lining out along with the living tissue.

I've been passing clots all these weeks, and my uterus cramps and hurts everywhere. I found from Googling that passing clots is normal even up to two months. But there isn't sufficient information about the pain.

Sometimes it's a sharp stabbing pain, and sometimes a dull spread one. There is no particular location. It happens anywhere in the lower abdomen. It's more when there is a physical activity, even moderate.

The only symptoms I have are pain and clots. The abortion happened three and a half weeks ago.

Could it be that some tissue is left behind? Any opinions?

I don't know this from personal experience but my friend had a miscarriage and I was her support, they had to basically get rid of the baby in the same way. Not the best experience when you want the baby. If you still have pain there is still tissue that is left behind but your body will dispose of it by itself. Just takes time.

@larnie: you are right. That's exactly what's happening. The pain is normal. OP if the pain continues over 4 months you have to go see your doctor. A lot of things will be different for a bit. It's normal
