What happened to doing things because they were the right thing to do???

It used to be when people treated other people with respect. They did things because it was the right thing to do, or didn't do things because it was just wrong.

Now everyone questions why? People defend their actions with,"Well, it's not like I'm breaking the law or anything?" "Other people are doing it too," or "I was just joking. I didn't mean it."

What happened to compassion and looking out for one another? I'm all about laughing at my differences, but that's completely different than the extreme bullying and abuse that's going on.

Sorry, just had to vent...

Now a days people do not want to be involved. Look at that lady in China that was struck by 2 different cars and died on a busy road and no one stopped to help

@MikefromEP: That's so sad. But yeah...I just don't understand human behavior sometimes.

@alohamom: My nephew was on the transit bus a few years ago and just sat as a guy stole a womans purse and ran past him without even trying to stop him. He didn't want to get involved. I asked him if he would stop a person robbing his Mom.. he said.. Ohh.. thats different :O I tore a strip off him that didn't heal for months

@MikefromEP: Exactly! It's people are so insensitive when it's not happening to them, but when it is, then they suddenly expect everyone else to care. My daughter saw an elderly man trying to hold his shopping cart still and put his groceries away. All she did was ask him to hold the cart steady while she put one bag in his trunk. He acted like she was the kindest person he had ever met. She came back to me and said, "I don't get it. It's not like I did anything special." I told her to look at the man who got into the car next to him who did nothing, look at the teenager who just walked right by him. She just shrugged her shoulders and said, "I don't understand what's so hard." I just gave her a hug.

Bullying and teasing have literally exploded among teenagers/young adults recently. Along with that is depression and suicide. I can't tell you how much it saddens me how mean an heartless people can be to others. I have witnessed soo many examples of this, and have lost numerous of friends due to their negative behavior. I've gotten teased and bullied myself for standing up for these people, but it's okay, I know the kind of person I want to become. And it's someone who treats ALL people with respect.

It's never wrong to adopt the philosophy of "be kind".

@swl2jo: The thing is, as great as that would be, all I'm asking is for people to stop being so mean and insensitive. Maybe when they stop that, we can work on the be kind...
