What British things do Americans wish they had?

When I was younger, Americans always used to tell me they wished they had the NHS. Things have changed quite a lot, though.

@firefall: It's crazy when you look at the raw figures. One of the best healthcare systems in the world is the French system. They spend more than we British, but they spend less than America, and have a much better system.

America is paying enough to have the best healthcare systems in the world. I'm not entirely sure why you don't.

@GlassDog: Well start by skimming one third of health care spending off to profits for health insurance companies; then another third(ish) to for-profit healthcare providers in monopoly markets, and all of a sudden it becomes clear why the healthcare is rubbish if you're not rich, and why nurses & staff get so poorly paid compared to Europe.
