What habits are holding you back from success?

SerenitreeF
The only thing holding me back has been the belief that I'm too old to start anything new.

Well, perhaps it's true that I'm too old to start a new career, but I'm not too old to start new hobbies and develop a healthier life style.

@Neena:

I am 73. Retired at 69 after working for 53 years.

I am indeed to old to even want to start a new career. But, I've let myself fall into a lazy lifestyle.

Now, I've decided to take up photography, some very light hiking activity. Nothing too strenuous, but enough to go to the places where I'd like to take pictures. My daughter and a few friends are on board with the hiking thing and the photography too.

We plan to take the kids out and picnic, walk, perhaps swim, and I plan to get myself more active and interested in staying that way. I'm lucky that I have no chronic illness and am still quite strong and able to walk.

I have a walker, but for those hikes, I will need a walking stick and a folding stool to carry in a backpack. I have sciatica, and do have to take a break now and then, which is why I got the walker. Now I have to find a different way to travel on certain days.

Thanks for your interest. I guess I misunderstood what you meant.

@Serenitree: wow! That's quite impressive and inspiring , Sir .
Great to see your passion to pursue your hobbies . Always nice to spend time with children and grand children . You seem to have a wonderful family .
I too love spending time with my grand son . He is just 3 years old and always keeps me busy .
I love it when people try to get active . We start feeling aged when our mind gives up and enter in the shell of laziness . Great to know you .

@Neena: thanks, but I am a woman. I'm a mother, grandmother and a great grandmother. And they really are a pretty great family.

Three year olds are great, aren't they. It's the age of discovery, and they are discovering the joy of teaching us about the world. Never tell them you already know all that.......because you don't know it through their eyes. When one of my great granddaughters was four years old, one of her friends died.
She asked if I had heard that Kara Lee died. I said yes I had heard that and that I was sorry she had lost a friend.
She said "Oh no, Nana! She isn't lost, she is dead".
As her daddy had died before she was born, she knew about dead. I commented that because her daddy was also dead, he could look out for Kara Lee. Again, she corrected me. No, her daddy is in heaven which is in the sky, and Kara Lee is in a little white box in the ground.
I said, Oh, I see, I didn't realize.
She patted my hand and assured me that it's okay, if I ever have any questions about things, she will always have time to explain. Exactly what her mom always told her.

The fact that I get anxious and back out from things last minute if that counts as a habit.
NeenaF
@Anonsmiles: Surely you will , if you keep trying . I am glad that you are putting good effort from your part . Everytime you put that effort and earn a little bit of success you need to pat your back and be happy that you have advanced one step towards your goal . I wish you good luck :)

@Neena: I am trying to quit drinking and i need to schedule things out, Al tough not sure how to start, any tips? :)
NeenaF
@Breadroll: I am glad that you have a very good intend . Well, I am no expert in this as I never drink . But yes , you can follow some good articles on the web or else may be ..just try reducing it . After all you have to train your mind . Just try quitting it for a day or two and then keep extending it .
