I spent some time homeless, and a lot of shelters have staff that are pretty judgmental towards homeless people. Some assume that your homelessness stems from some moral shortcoming or personality flaw. Problem is, with a few exceptions, usually, they're right.

@puck61: Yeah, judgmental staff is one of the things I've read about them. I've also read about how one homeless woman got kicked out of one of their shelters, and how her belongings and valuables were confiscated and sold. Could be that it was just one bad nut in the nut basket of shelters, but..
