I never got this logic. Even black people from the Caribbean seem to be addressed as african American. If your parents or grandparents have no direct link to Africa then why be referred to as "African american" just because you're black.

@HijabbaDabbaDoo: exactly it's like that categorize all people with color excluding Mexicans Puerto Ricans ext into one group. You can be Jamaican decent and in American they'll still say African American

@imnotcool1: I have friends in of both Jamaican and African ethnic background and they're referred to as black here in England. Unless of course, they're filling forms then it's "afro-Caribbean" but at least it acknowledges both.
