Black people. Do you like to be called black or African American and why?

I prefer black because I am simply American born and raised not African American... I don't know any family member of mines that has even been to Africa 😂. But because of how I look that's what some refer to me as. Why not call whites European American? That doesn't sound right either if they were born in America.

I never got this logic. Even black people from the Caribbean seem to be addressed as african American. If your parents or grandparents have no direct link to Africa then why be referred to as "African american" just because you're black.

@HijabbaDabbaDoo: exactly it's like that categorize all people with color excluding Mexicans Puerto Ricans ext into one group. You can be Jamaican decent and in American they'll still say African American

@imnotcool1: I have friends in of both Jamaican and African ethnic background and they're referred to as black here in England. Unless of course, they're filling forms then it's "afro-Caribbean" but at least it acknowledges both.
