Do motivational posters work?

They can, and for some people they work better than for others. I've broken motivation up into 4 types personally...there's positive push motivation (affirming statements that push you to do what you want) there's positive pull motivation (imagining how good you will feel after you have achieved your goal), there's negative motivation (imagining how bad you will feel) and there's lazy motivation - that's a special situation where doing what I'm meant to be doing is the laziest of all options. I'd say you really need a bit of all 4 to get motivation working properly.
