It's not so bad, really. Just sucks that you can't leave.

Oh really? So you've been?
MougyWolf · 36-40, M
@Itsprincess: Yes, a few times in my 20's when I had psychosis. Basically, just the psychiatric wing of the hospital. I was formed, meaning I couldn't leave. They kept me in there a few months in total. They drug you with this and that, whatever they feel you need, you tend to share a room with a roomate, there is a common area, lounge, a kitchen. The food was free, meals brought in on plates, and some juice, milk, toasts, ect in the kitchen. There was an exercise room, a TV room, and so on. While you are there, you attend group meetings, and some one on ones.. during the day. They treat you nice and all if you are being co-operate, and will strap you down if you are putting up a fight.
Over all, it was not particularly helpful to my own indiviudal case, however, it was a safe place for me to be in while I was not ok in the head and couldn't handle things on my own. They sort of shelter you in a bubble where you don't have to worry about life outside, but I suppose like jail.. spending a long time in one makes it difficult to re-intrgrate back into society, to the point where some actually prefer to be there.

@mougywolf: that sounds really interesting. I guess there's a difference between mental hospitals in different countries and between them 👀
MougyWolf · 36-40, M
@Itsprincess: I'm Canadian, and over all, I'd say that it wasn't a trrible experience. There were two different psychiatric facilities I spent some time in. Both were about the same in terms of the conditions, but one of them seemed to "care" more than the other. I say it wasn't particularly helpful because the "help" that they offer is the "help" that the pharmacutical companies would offer, and it's not exactly like I got to sit down with a councilor or phychologist to help me specifically in the concerns that I face. It was a more of a playing along to this idea that illicit drugs are bad, and their drugs, umm,., medications, are a better way, etc.... (not helpful)

@mougywolf: ohh right, so it's about giving you drugs to make you feel better?
MougyWolf · 36-40, M
@Itsprincess: Yes. Well, that is what they'd like you to beleive. The reality of it though, they want to give you drugs to make you obey and be suggestable, dulled down enough to never question, but alive enough to pay taxes, Modern day psychiatry is a sham. An unholy alliance between the Feds, the doctors, and the drug companies.

@mougywolf: sounds awful then. That makes sense why they would!
