I love you.

But he did die. And they were my last words to him. They were always the last words we said to each other.......after goodbye...before hanging up.

It happened to me last month. A few weeks before his death I spoke with him. My last words were "I love you, brother." At the time, we knew he was seriously ill, but he had been for a long time. His death came as a shock, but not a surprise.

Yes. Exactly. Even when we are expecting it, it's still a shock, like a punch in the heart.
