Why would you lie about santa to your kids

Worst tradition ever, good way to develop trust issues😂
SW-User
Follow up comment, lol: I think a good follow up question would be "Did you stop trusting your parents after you found out there was no Santa?" I can't imagine too many would say they felt betrayed by their parents over it.

I can't imagine many people would remember let alone had been able to realize their feelings and why they were feeling that way if you know what I mean?
PoizonApple · 41-45, F
I remember exactly how I felt. Still trust my parents.

I can remember finding out he wasn't real....I don't remember my exact age but I remember finding the present I had asked for stuffed in the back of the closet. I think a lot of kids find it out on their own before they even need to be told or ask about it. I don't see it as anymore than a fun tradition....an elaborate game of "pretend".

I hope I'm not losing the trust of my kids by making it seem like the shark shaped washcloth we use in the bath is a real shark sometimes. 😂

A lot better than lying to them about an old man who lives in the clouds, created the world, is watching you and you can 'speak' with.
I think it's an awesome tradition. The sense of magic for children at Christmas can be a wonderful thing.
But the best part about it is for families with multiple kids. When the eldest learns there is no Santa it's a coming of age. They're given the responsibility of keeping it alive for their siblings. That can be a big deal for a young kid.

@Ynotisay: Well i have a Toddler sister and I look after her everyday. I just think when its not necessary don't lie to your kids That's my opinion
Ynotisay · M
@Itsprincess: Fair enough. But when/if you have your OWN child, and you don't want them to take part in the magic of Santa, please make sure they don't ruin it for other children. Thanks.
Itsprincess · 22-25, F
the magic of santa 😂😂 can't promise anything b

At least one day they find out the truth...there are other mythological beings that people believe in their whole lives.
Itsprincess · 22-25, F
lol. I just think people can adapt to bad situations but that doesn't mean it should still happen you know?
SW-User
@Itsprincess: ugh there are far worse things in life lol..they'll be fine!
Itsprincess · 22-25, F
@Kuronekko: they'll be fine but I wouldn't recommend it that's all I'm saying 😄
JarJarBoom · 41-45, F
technically you are not lying to your kids ...because there was a time he existed
Itsprincess · 22-25, F
@dreamingofoz: hahahah
JarJarBoom · 41-45, F
That mushroom looks like something like the Smurfs live in
@JarJarBoom: The Smurfs lived in a psychadelic mushroom? Actually explains a lot.

It's a good time....if my kids take issue with it someday they can hate me for it all they want as long as they reimburse me for everything that came from Santa.
Itsprincess · 22-25, F
You*😋
SW-User
I've kept receipts for every last thing we've bought just in case. We'll see how fake they think he is when I invoice them *evil laugh*
Itsprincess · 22-25, F
@StrangeWorld: lmao😁
Definitely once they find out Santa was a lie why would they believe you when you tell them heroin is bad? I mean you're already a proven liar at that point.

Hmm if everyone else is saying it they'd believe that but I think they're less likely to confide in their parents without full trust

Actually, I'd lie to Santa about my kids. I'd tell him I have some so he'd show up at my house with lots of good shit.
Itsprincess · 22-25, F
😂
PoizonApple · 41-45, F
It's fun tradition. They'll be okay
Itsprincess · 22-25, F
be okay is a broad thing to say. I didn't mean to upset you lol
PoizonApple · 41-45, F
Not upset. Be okay as in still trust their parents and not have any psychological damage.
Itsprincess · 22-25, F
Yeah I agree, it won't completely make them trust not trust anything their parents say. I'm saying it's more likely they won't trust their parents to the full extent you can and I think it's desirable to want your kids to trust you completely
Yulianna · 22-25, F
more likely i will lie to santa, see if he believes i have kids...
Itsprincess · 22-25, F
Haha👀
Yulianna · 22-25, F
@Itsprincess: maybe he will leave some presents i will enjoy! ☺
SW-User
They are too smart these days to know.
Itsprincess · 22-25, F
Yeah truee
SW-User
so they can be kids for a little while before the world crushes them
SW-User
they woulda been crushed by something else anyways
Itsprincess · 22-25, F
thats a fucked up logic. thats like saying 'I'll kill this person, they're gonna die anyways'
SW-User
nah they'll be fine

@dunpender: I didn't say you didn't find it fun. I'm saying it can be just as fun with parents if not more

Itsprincess · 22-25, F
@dunpender: you could still do that but to your parents lol
SW-User
I have an itching conscience, so I would wait until my child turned at least the pre teen age before I threw out the truth about old St. Nick 😀
SW-User
I wouldn't because I have no children
Itsprincess · 22-25, F
