How does it make you feel when you come across an old couple happily in love?

This is heartwarming for me..

I have never once seen such a thing.

I usually see them sitting on a bench when I take the kids to the park, or we will be relaxing on the beach and there I will find them strolling by hand in hand

@WiseGirl: That seriously fucks my world view. At the very least, I think it's excessively rare. Most old couples act more like resentful roommates than lovers, in my experience. What country do you live in?

@ColdPenguin: Wow I wonder if you ever step out of your home. It maybe a front who knows what I see is love and it makes me happy.

@WiseGirl: Maybe forced love.

@ColdPenguin: if you see two old people in the park ... what makes you think they didn't hook up a month ago? I mean the romantic in you might be passing judgement and thinking oh old people must be lovers since highschool! If more than half the people that get married get divorced then most of the happy old age couples are also new couples.

@ColdPenguin: Also old people that get together are more likely to be happyer than people that were together their whole life: they go in it knowing what they expect they don't have a memory telling them "this is not the person you fell in love with they changed physically and psychically so much they are practically a stranger" (or roommate like ColdPenguin said)they fell in love at a later age and share the same goals and they are most likely too far along in life for those goals to branch in different directions, plus there are far less personal goals and ambitions to divide the couple.

@kayoshin: Those are very good points. I also default assumed "If they're old, they've been together forever." Very stupidly. Good catch.

Yes we all project our own views on strangers. Also people project an image intentionally. Have you never met a couple that suddenly divorces out of the blue when everyone thought they had the perfect life and look so happy together always? It's because they are projecting a false image. Never envy a stranger you never know what goes on behind closed doors in their house or how many skeletons (or lovers) are in their closets.

@kayoshin: I can agree with that.
