Isn't this a question ripe for being addressed to people in general who flaunt their sexuality? Not all heteros do, people with other orientations do too, etc...
Being someone who doesn't go out of their way to broadcast their sexual orientation (even when people sometimes presume it incorrectly) I can't really answer your question from personal experience, but maybe it has to do with insecurities?
