What's the hardest thing about being your age?

ageism. I am doing well in the workforce as of right now in my late 50's but many of my friends have been aged out of the job market in starting at around age 50.

In the last 5 years I am often the oldest person on internal calls. I am one of the oldest people at office parties and I get bombarded with consulting offers on LinkedIn from strangers because they know people in my age raange usually are cornered to do consulting or not work at all

In some ways I get it though. My saving grace is I am in fantastic health for my age and am high energy for my age. However from an employers point of view I do see the risk of hiring someone who will be sick more often, more apt to be techno-stupid, and is often less moldable as an employee.

It is an ongoing fear though--of soon not being seen as employable as a professional due to age.
