Nothing, I'd just paint some patterns on them.

honestly if they've already been adorned with paint, ink or the like, I wouldn't put them back into the environment; for one thing, if a crab does try to use it as a home, it could poison the crab; the environmental damage is already done in removing them from the beach, so I'd just keep them at this point
