I’m starting to think

we’re all neurodivergent on some level. 🙃

@NudasPriest nothing wrong with it, makes life a little harder but nothing wrong with it.
@RebelRaven Makes people better, but interacting with the expectations and structure of society harder.

@NudasPriest exactly
Absolutely.

And there's nothing wrong with that.

We just need to accept each other and stop being mean.
RebelRaven · 51-55, F
@EldritchFox ya the negativity around it needs to disappear.
@RebelRaven we should be celebrating our uniqueness

I think 2020 helped bring it out in everyone. 😆
I think everyone has traits. It's kinda human nature.
RebelRaven · 51-55, F
@Bexsy ya I think so

Definitely!
I've often said that most people are "normal" in some ways and "weird" in other ways, and that it's the combination of ways in which someone is "weird" that makes that v person unique.

I feel like many things nowadays ascribed to neurodivergence are actually signs of neuroticism caused by the way we live. No way so many people suddenly experience misophonia. That is far from a normal state of the mind.

@CrazyMusicLover ya perhaps, but what is normal???
In my generation and older generations we just didn’t have words for things. I’ve anxiety as far back as I remember there just was the word for it.

@RebelRaven Normal is something that majority of people or at least a big group of people experience. Having anxiety right before a difficult school exam is normal, waking up in the middle of the night and having a compulsion to cram for the exam again and again is not normal, from what I heard. Having stage fright when giving a public speech, having shaky voice and sweaty palms and not forming sentences properly is fairly normal but having a full-blown anxiety/panic attack when you either can't say a word, faint or have to excuse yourself because of severe physical reactions to stress is not normal. Anxiety is not normal when it happens frequently enough to affect physical health and is triggered by tasks that most people don't find threatening at all, like leaving the apartment, shopping in a grocery store, driving even if you are an experienced driver etc. Of course that it's a spectrum and some people are naturally more neurotic/anxious but as long as you can function and don't struggle with stress-induced physical or psychosomatic illnesses, than I guess it's still within normal.

But even then, there's a question if it's a matter of neurodivergence or a mental illness. How it's classified.
