This new way of soft dismissing people lol

"I'm sorry you feel that way."

"I'm sorry that's been your experience."

It's like instead of actual empathy we're giving staged, generic sympathy.

It feels like singling each other out for having feelings and experiences that we all definitely have. No question, concern or curiosity. Nothing changes for the better.

People really think they're figuring life out but they're just joining the apathy party.

Boundaries and self orientation in a population of billions isn't gonna work much longer. Especially since half of us are hardwired war and hate machines. The rest of us aren't far behind if we keep pretending the world revolves around what we're comfortable with.

I'm not sure what else to say when someone is overwhelmed, I too can feel overwhelmed by their... feelings of being overwhelmed. It's hard to know what to say to someone else's suffering. And with the upcoming or current state of our economy people are about to get hit very hard and it will likely have a domino effect of many people venting here. I'm afraid you will see many I'm sorry statements or no comments just hearts.
@Mindful I think it's to the point our own discomfort needs to be checked in on. We've normalized building walls between ourselves and others and it makes our own ability to care/empathize/help atrophy. We have no backbone anymore...

If someone is overwhelmed I ask questions, I listen. Just because I can't fix their problems doesn't mean they're too much. If I react like I'm being attacked that's on me. People aren't attacking each other with their hurt, most are trying to be witnessed as complete and complex whole beings.

If we keep not helping each other, we're all going down.

It's so easy, to me at least, to offer a little.

Tbh I think what drains us more than each other's feelings is all of trying to hide our own so we're not the person outted for being brave enough to speak up. We're like, giving bullies all the wins without them even trying anymore.

There are honest people that truly feel remorseful and those just trying to dismiss. Pls don't think they are the same.

That’s an old politician trick. Make an offensive statement, get called out, and then say “I’m sorry you were offended by my words”, thus deflecting blame to the victims rather than accepting it by saying “I’m sorry I acted like a racist douchebag”.
@Harmonium1923 Yup and it's crazy to see people who speak against others like that using the same exact tactics to avoid caring or actually doing something. If humans go down because nobody cares and/or the boundaries are impenetrable, we deserve it.

@EldritchFox there's a difference between insulting a person and expressing compassion"I'm sorry you feel that way" can sound /be dismissive, in this example.
