Morning, a bad one

This morning I have a sore throat and the beginning of a bad cold. I'm also reflecting how old age is near to a horror movie at times. Everything that needs to be done is not only a lot more difficult to do but because of dementia it's near to always never done.

Just have a moment to think about that. My dad is now well into the grey zone and can't remember much what he needs to be doing nor what he has done before. The near term memory is gone and the long term one is getting more and more broken down.

That's the word for it. It's a slow drop into darkness. Perhaps that's why prayer helps, because it's indeed something one should keep doing actively. Personally, I'm getting more and more tired. Not only is the actual decline very difficult to process day in day out, but then there's work.

I'm working for over thirty years doing the same job. Like I posted before, I don't get any inch of regard to do what I've already done nor what I can contribute. Not only that, I get bullied into wanting to leave. That's the modern day solution for people like me. Get them out by bullying.

Of course, it's not done ouvertly but every day at the workplace I'm confronted by some mad person who changes everything only after a couple of years. There's the thing again. No waiting around to access the results nor a period of introduction. It's near to maddening.

More so because the lead isn't even accepting that at the beginning of any change there will be problems to cope with. Not only are the people still human beings, they're not even prepared correctly. My feelings are that I want to be around when she gets at a certain age when she'll be the person who needs help.

Looking after your father must be a drain. At least he has you at the twilight of his life. So he is not alone, and has your lice and care.

We cannot help that our bodies age. But you have a long way to go. Twenty five years , I suspect.

Mixing with people younger than you helps. Try to think of hobbies that gave a wide age of people in it. A gym maybe.

Has your church got a wide range of people.

There are things you can do when you eventually leave that job. Work in a food bank perhaps? It is just the matter of getting out there. Your library may have a lot of local activities listed.

Gill Hasson’s book, Positive thinking, may help. 😄

@peterlee Thank you for the advice. At the church I'm in a pickle too. The priest wants something done that isn't productive and near to illegal. I tried to warn him but I think that I'll better stay away from any active duty there. Hobbies. Those are nice. I have now dad's pigeons to look after. Need to get the cots anti-rat wire. I'm trying to manage more or less two households. Because of the dyslexia I'm getting more and more tired. That boss that I have just puches and puches me. Hate the work activities by now. The rest of my collegues are doing those and I'm basically doing input.

@val70 Yes, it is hard at the moment. A change of church? I know lots are not welcoming. A fitness class maybe?

@peterlee Can't do that. I'm looking for some backing to do some theology studies.

That work stuff you're dealing with is today's immediate gratification attitude. There's no logical thought behind it.
I won't compare notes. I just know what you're going through with your dad. 🫂
